Call for papers
Share your research with the academy, industry and government, participate in the discussion about the future of the global natural gas sector and the role of academia on it, engage with multinational natural gas companies, and gain the opportunity to publish in an international peer-reviewed journal’s special issue.
Presentation fees are fully sponsored by the Mexican Natural Gas Association (https://amgn.mx/)
Introduction
Natural gas plays a significant role in the global energy system, supporting traditional and renewable electricity generation, industrial activity, and residential and commercial energy use worldwide. As countries seek to strengthen energy security while advancing toward lower-carbon energy systems, the sector faces the challenge of ensuring reliable and affordable energy supply while reducing its environmental footprint and enabling the integration of emerging alternatives such as biomethane and hydrogen.
The North America subcontinent, as one of the top world’s producers and consumers, provides a relevant setting for this discussion. Canada, the United States, and Mexico are connected through extensive energy infrastructure, cross-border trade, investment, and increasingly interdependent natural gas markets. This configuration creates opportunities for greater regional cooperation, technological innovation, and more resilient energy systems, while also raising important questions regarding regulation, infrastructure development, environmental sustainability, energy security, social justice, and the role of natural gas in the energy transition.
The First International Quadruple-Helix Meeting on Natural Gas (IQHMNG 2027) will bring together researchers, academics, industry professionals, policymakers, and other stakeholders to examine the evolving role of natural gas at the global and regional levels. The IQHMNG 2027will provide a multidisciplinary forum for presenting research, exchanging perspectives, and fostering collaboration on the technological, economic, regulatory, environmental, and social challenges shaping the future of natural gas.
Welcomed contributions
We welcome original and relevant contributions that advance knowledge, inform decision-making, or provide new perspectives on the current and future role of natural gas in energy systems. Submissions may address global, regional, national, or local contexts, with particular interest in contributions relevant to the Americas.
Contributions may include original research, applied studies, policy and regulatory analyses, technological assessments, case studies, comparative studies, and evidence-based perspectives from industry and professional practice. Interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral contributions connecting technological, economic, environmental, regulatory, and social dimensions are particularly encouraged.
